How to empty your browser cache — IE for Windows

To empty the cache using Internet Explorer for Windows:

  • From the Tools menu, select Internet Options.
  • Under the General tab, find Temporary Internet files.
  • Click Delete Files.
  • Check the Delete Files box.
  • Click OK twice.
  • This will delete everything in your cache.

To have the cache automatically emptied using Internet Explorer for Windows:

  • From the Tools menu, select Internet Options.
  • Select the Advanced tab.
  • Scroll down to the Security section.
  • Check Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed.
  • Click Apply and then click OK.
  • Your browser will delete the cache automatically.

To empty the cache using Internet Explorer 7:

  • Go to Tools
  • Select Internet Options
  • Go to General Tab: Browsing History section
  • Click Delete
  • Select Delete Files for Temporary Internet Files
  • Select Delete Files for History
