Each fund's portfolio is professionally allocated based on a specific time horizon, then as the target date gets nearer they are automatically adjusted for the shorter resulting time frame.

The fund begins by seeking growth of your assets while accepting more risk. The longer the horizon, the greater the risk accepted. Then, asset allocations are adjusted to accept less risk and help preserve capital as your withdrawal date approaches. An Independence ETF can be purchased directly through your TD AMERITRADE account the same way you place a stock order. Just enter the ETF symbol and amount of shares.

This fund initially is highly weighted toward fixed-income securities in order to seek conservation of capital. For five years, the fund will gradually increase exposure to equities up to a moderately conservative allocation, which it will then maintain.
